We built two outstanding chests for a client in Texas through our friends at Snake River Interiors in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. These were very large bedside chests built out of eastern black walnut and accented with premium leather around the frame. We knew that the Houston Texas would be the home for these two chest so we knew that they needed to be engineered to withstand a humid climate. The construction process was quit complicated because of the lack of overhang in the clean lined design. We had to lay up our own thick veneer to deal with this challenge to ensure that the wood would not want to move over time. This is a labor intensive process but always turns out oh so nice! We chose to use solid maple for the drawer boxes with concealed under-mount drawer slides. I would love to have a set of these at the sides of my bed! What an awesome looking set of bedside chests!
